Vampire Sweetie Trial (english)

Once upon a time (2010)... there was this otome game announced by sugarbeans which eventually stopped being advertised in otoge magazines. The game was delayed and only recently the developing came back into action and the launching date was announced to take place this month (April the 27th). The name of this game: Vampire Sweetie

The trial is out! So I decided to take up the challenge of playing it and making a blog entry of it :P

As sugarbeans previous team has changed almost completely, I was expecting the same of this game in contrast with their previous games. So, the first thing that I payed attention to was the visual aspect of the game.

The above sample is the very first background you get, also, you can see the interface of the game and the face of the protagonist (I actually miss this in other games). I think the backgrounds are very nice, the sprites are also quite good-looking and the music is cute. Nothing disappointing at all ^^

As for the game story, as far as the trial goes, I will cite what a fellow member from my-neoromance forum posted (which is the same that is posted at the official site, but kindly translated into English):

"Yuuri is managing a holiday villa by the sea in place of her absent father. One day, she gets a call from him telling her that he had invited his business partner's children to stay. Naturally angry at her father deciding things without consulting her, Yuuri still welcomes the arrival of the family. She quickly gets along with them due to her cheerfulness and the days seem endlessly fun. However, one night, the sleepless Yuuri catches the youngest brother, Joshua, drinking blood. The brothers are now forced to kill her because she knows about their true nature, but they decide to offer her a deal instead. If she allows them to drink her blood, she won't be killed (...)"

So that's basically it for this trial, Yuri goes out to get some stuff after getting her father's phone call. On her way back to the villa, she encounters with four young men (each one at a different time and place), who actually are the guests but of course she doesn't realize this, nor do they.

When she arrives home, the guests are already waiting for her and welcome her. All of them get really surprised (also Yuri) when they realize she was the girl they met at the street. Yuri introduces herself and each of the brothers does the same (although Mihael is a bit reluctant to do so at first).

Being an excellent cook and anfitrione, Yuri cooks them a grand dinner and everyone gets together to enjoy the delicious meal and chat.

After that, the real game starts, now you have to decide where will you go, what will you do and what will you say. All of these will affect whom route you will enter when the complete game comes out, however in this trial it seems they also affect how will the trial end:

1. The first one goes like this: One night Yuri feels thirsty and goes to the kitchen to get some water, on the way back to her room, she notices a door is slightly open and that the lights of that room (the living room I guess) are on. When she peeks into the room it shows us a very blurry CG, but Yuri says she can see someone there. It seems she can distinguish Joshua and Aaron, then she sees something and gets so scared and shocked that she faints.

While she is still unconscious Yuri can hear the brothers talk, they try to get her back to her senses and even talk about calling an ambulance, however Yuri manages to open her eyes and tell them she is ok. The brothers are still worried, and then they ask her if she can remember what she saw. Mihael says they most likely have been found out. Yuri cannot remember very well at first, but after some time she remembers well. She saw Joshua biting Aaron's neck.

The brothers then realize they have indeed been found out and decide to confess to Yuri the truth. All of them are vampires.

Of course Yuri cannot believe this at the beginning, even more because Faust was eating something which had garlic in it just a minute ago. Then they explain to her how vampires can eat garlic and be under the sun light (some of them even enjoy taking sunbaths), all those stories about the opposite were just made up by humans.

Aaron explains to Yuri that they are the same as humans, they eat, laugh, cry, etc. However, vampires need to drink blood, and even though they can drink blood from another vampire the blood is not as good and may even make their stomach hurt (lol).

So then they happily ask her to let them drink her blood - just a little bit, they say. If not, they would have to go out and "attack" other people and will eventually bring Yuri problems, so its better if Yuri herself is their supplier haha. Yuri accepts, saying only if its really just a bit. The brothers get happy as they've come to an agreement.

That night Yuri is still scared it seems, and she has some sort of nightmare were she gets harassed by all the brothers because they want her blood, or that's what I understood xD And that's it for the trial.

2. The other ending for the trial I got was one when Yuri gets another phone call, i think this one was from the hospital or something, seems her dad got into an accident and so he could'nt return until he is fully recovered (sorry, my Japanese still is not so good, hehe). The trial ends a little bit after that.


All in all, after playing this trial I can say I'm looking forward to playing the real thing. The game seems very entertaining and cute, though I'm sure there'll be rape and all that stuff... but whatever, that stuff is almost always there in r-18 games -u-;

Oh, and just in case you're curious about the love interests I'll write the little bit I found out about them during the trial:

Faust (black hair) He is the eldest brother, loves wine, smoking and he is as pervert it seems.
Mihael (white hair) Next eldest after Faust; typical megane character that is quiet and "cool", sometimes he acts as if he was really butthurt and/or has his PMS. He likes flower and plants.
Aaron (red hair) The next son, he is very cheerful and kind. Loves food. He was my favorite :P
Joshua (chibi blonde) The youngest son, he is the shota character that calls you "onee-chan", he loves to play and eat candy. He also has a pet hamster who he named "Hams", Hams is usually standing on Joshua's shoulder.

Aaaand that's it! But, there is something that bothered me...

WHY are they wearing THAT at the BEACH??? I mean, isn't it too hot there, even more being SUMMER??? xD
